1: Open your Curtains/Blinds
Opening up your window coverings when the sun is out will allow that Vitamin D to come through and naturally give a warmer feeling! Note: Be sure to close them as the sun is going down to keep all that heat inside.
2: Seal Up any Potential Air Leaks
Take a look at all windows, doors, light fixtures, walls, and celings for any air leaks. Although it seems minor it can add up over the winter and overall raise your heating bill.
3: Replace filters
Chances are your air filters are in need of a replacement! While you are at it checkout the instructions on when to change the filter next and set a reminder to help you remember the next time to change it! Typically you will want to change it monthly or every other month. Each furnace is different so be sure to look at your make and model.
4: Shut Doors
If you have any rooms in your home that are not used often, it is best to close the doors of those rooms. It is one less room your will have to heat and it leaves more heat for the other rooms in your home you are in more often.
5: Pay Attention To the Fireplace
Whatever room your fireplace is in, it is probably filling up with heat and not circulating throughout your whole house. Turn on your fan to help circulate the heat around the house, instead of just the one room!
